Can I use Avoma for an in-person Meeting?

Avoma does not fully support in-person meetings in the same way it does for virtual meetings over video conferencing tools like Zoom or Microsoft Teams, or phone dialers like Outreach or RingCentral. However, there are two ways you can still capture and analyze in-person meeting conversations

Avoma is built for virtual meetings on platforms like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Outreach, or RingCentral, where it can join automatically, capture multi-speaker audio, and identify speakers. In-person meetings don’t provide separate audio channels for each participant, making it difficult for Avoma’s AI to distinguish between speakers, capture clear audio from everyone in the room, and generate high-quality transcriptions and notes.

However, there are two ways you can still record and analyze in-person meetings using Avoma:

1. Set up a conference call during your in-person meeting

If you set up a virtual conference call and have it running during your in-person discussion, Avoma can record the audio. Keep in mind:

  • Because only one microphone (usually the host’s) is being used, Avoma will identify the host as the speaker for the entire meeting.

  • Audio from attendees who are farther from the microphone may not be captured clearly, which can impact transcription accuracy and the quality of AI-generated notes.

2. Record the meeting using the Avoma mobile app

You can use the Avoma mobile app to manually record audio during an in-person meeting. This gives you a more portable option to capture the conversation for transcription and analysis.

If you have an in-person recording in a file format of mp4, avi, mkv, mp3, or wav, you do have the option of Uploading a Meeting Recording into Avoma.
