How to create a Playlist in Avoma
Create a playlist or a Smart Playlist to curate the best moments from conversations across functions, and enable faster learning.
Playlists in Avoma let you curate the best moments from conversations across your team. Whether you want to highlight customer feedback, top sales calls, onboarding examples, or coaching material, Playlists make it easy to organize and share content.
There are two types of Playlists in Avoma:
- Static Playlist – You manually add specific recordings or Snippets.
- Smart Playlist – You define rules (filters), and Avoma automatically pulls in relevant recordings that match those rules.
Prerequisites
- You must have access to the meetings or Snippets you want to include.
- Playlist access and visibility will depend on your organization’s privacy and conferencing settings. For more details, see:
How to create a Static Playlist
A Static Playlist is manually curated. You decide which recordings and Snippets to include.
1. From the left navigation menu in Avoma, click Playlists.
2. Click + Create New Playlist (top-right corner).

3. Enter a Playlist Name and an optional Description (e.g., Best Demo Calls).
4. Keep the Playlist Type set to Static Playlist.

5. Set Access Permissions:
- Public – Anyone with the link can view (no sign-in required). Use sparingly for widely shareable content.
- Organization – Anyone in your org + invited people (via email) can view. Requires sign-in or one-time code.
- Public – Anyone with the link can view (no sign-in required). Use sparingly for widely shareable content.

6. Click Create Static Playlist.
NOTE: Add an optional Description for the playlist if you desire to tell your team what the playlist is about.
How to create a Smart Playlist
A Smart Playlist saves you time by using rules (filters) to auto-curate relevant recordings.
1. From the left navigation menu, click Playlists.
2. Click + Create New Playlist.
3. Enter a Playlist Name and optional Description (e.g., Customer Objections).
4. Change Playlist Type to Smart Playlist. A sidebar with filters will open.

5. Set Access Permissions - Private, Organization and Public
- Keyword search
- Smart Categories (e.g., “Budget,” “Timeline”)
- Team & Member
- Companies
- Purposes / Outcomes
- Sales Stages (During / Now)
- Call Types
- Deal Amounts
- Other filters
7. You must select at least one Smart Rule.
8. Choose whether the playlist should include:
- Only future recordings – Only adds recordings from today onward.
- All past & future recordings – Adds historical recordings that match filters + all new ones going forward.
Note: Updates to past meetings after creation will not auto-update in the playlist.
Refreshing or Editing Smart Playlists
You can always modify Smart Playlists to update the rules.
1. Find the Playlist you want to edit.
2. Click the three-dot menu (…) and select Edit.

3. Update the filters or rules as needed.

If the checkbox Replace with new items is selected, the playlist will update with the new matches.
Otherwise, it will add new matches without removing old ones.

Best Practices for Playlists
- Use Static Playlists for curated examples (like onboarding calls or top demos).
- Use Smart Playlists for ongoing categories (like all calls tagged with “Competitor Mention”).
- Always give Playlists clear names and descriptions so teammates know the purpose.
- Limit Public Playlists to training or marketing material that’s safe for external use.
- Combine Snippets and recordings for maximum context.
