How to configure Live Streaming in Zoom
To use real-time features in Avoma, like live transcription, Live Bookmarks, and the Live Answer Assistant, you need to enable Zoom’s Custom Live Streaming Service.
This allows Avoma to access meetings live and deliver insights instantly, without waiting for recordings.
Prerequisites
Before you configure live streaming, ensure the following:
- You have a licensed Zoom account
- Your Zoom account is connected to Avoma → Follow setup instructions here if it is not.
- Zoom Cloud Recording is enabled in your account settings.
Note:
- If you're using an individual Zoom connection, you can enable the setting yourself, unless it's locked by your organization's admin. Follow the steps under For individual Zoom users.
-
If your Zoom account is connected via admin provisioning, only a Zoom Admin can enable or modify the Live Streaming setting. Refer to the For Zoom Admins section below.
How to enable Live Streaming in Zoom
For individual Zoom users
Step 1: Go to www.zoom.us and sign in with your Zoom credentials.
Step 2: Navigate to Settings in the left sidebar.
Step 3: Scroll down to the In Meeting (Advanced) section Or simply use the settings search bar and type “Live Streaming”
Step 4: Locate the setting: Allow live streaming of meetings and Turn the toggle ON next to it.
Step 5: Select the checkbox for Custom Live Streaming Service
If the setting is locked at the admin level, you may need to contact your Zoom account admin to enable it for your org.
For Zoom Admins (Admin Provisioning)
If your org uses Zoom Admin Provisioning, follow these steps:
Step 1: Sign in to Zoom as an Admin
Step 2: Scroll down to Account Management and go to Account Settings in the left sidebar.
Step 3: Scroll down to the In Meeting (Advanced) section Or simply use the settings search bar and type “Live Streaming”
Step 4: Locate the setting: Allow live streaming of meetings and Turn the toggle ON next to it.
Step 5: Select the checkbox for Custom Live Streaming Service.
This ensures all Zoom users in your org, whose accounts are provisioned via admin, can use Avoma’s real-time features like Live Bookmarks.
Participant experience
Once live streaming is enabled and the host joins the meeting:
- All participants will receive two Zoom prompts separately:
- One for Recording
- One for Live Streaming
- One for Recording
- Participants must accept both prompts to continue
- A Live Streaming banner will appear at the top of the Zoom screen, confirming that the meeting is being streamed via Avoma
