Below is a complete list of the scopes we request, with clarity on how and why Avoma uses them. ### Here is the complete list of scopes we ask for from Slack: | #### **Scope** | #### **What it lets Avoma do** | #### **How Avoma uses it** | | --- | --- | --- | | *channels:join* | Join public channels in the workspace | Display the channel options for sharing alerts or snippets | | *channels:read* | View basic info about public channels (names, topics, etc.) | Identify the right channels | | *channels:manage* | Create new public channels or update existing ones | *Not used today* | | *groups:read* | View basic info about private channels the Avoma bot has been invited to | Post updates in private channels you’ve invited Avoma into | | *groups:write* | Create new private channels or update existing ones (only where Avoma has been added) | *Not used today* | | *chat:write* | Send messages in channels and conversations where the bot is a member | Share meeting notes, updates, and notifications | | *chat:write.public* | Send messages to public channels even if not a member | Post updates without needing the bot to join every channel | | *chat:write.customize* | Send messages with rich formatting, blocks, and attachments | Send structured, customizable alerts so messages are clear and easy to read | | *commands* | Add shortcuts and slash commands for users | *Not used today* | | *im:read* | View basic info about direct messages the bot is part of | Send messages through DM to right person | | *im:write* | Start direct message conversations with users | *Not used today* | | *link:read* | Detect when a link is posted in Slack | Identify when a meeting or snippet link has been shared | | *link:write* | Display previews of URLs in messages | Turn a plain link into a clickable card instead of raw text | | *links.embed:write* | Display previews when a link is shared with other text | Show the same rich card even if the link is part of a longer message | | *mpim:read* | View basic info about group direct messages the bot is part of | Send messages through DM to right group of people | | *mpim:write* | Start group direct message conversations | *Not used today* | | *usergroups:read* | View basic info about Slack user groups (e.g., @sales-team) | Tag the right team and send the update to each member as a direct message | | *users:read* | View basic info about users in the workspace | Match an Avoma user to the right user in Slack | | *users:read.email* | View email addresses of users in the workspace | Match an Avoma user to the right user in Slack |     -
