How to apply Meeting Purposes and Outcomes with manual updates
You can manually apply or change Meeting Purposes and Outcomes directly from the Meetings page. This is helpful when a meeting needs a quick correction, or when AI detection and automations aren’t enabled.
Any member can do this—admin access isn’t required. Use manual updates any time you want meeting categorization to be accurate for search, filtering, and reporting.

Troubleshooting and FAQs
Why don’t I see the Purpose or Outcome dropdowns on a meeting?
This is usually a view or configuration issue.
-
Confirm you’re in the meeting details view (not just the list).
-
Refresh the page, then reopen the meeting.
-
Check whether your workspace has Meeting Purposes and Outcomes available/enabled.
If you still don’t see the dropdowns, contact your workspace admin or support.
Can I update a meeting’s Purpose after the meeting already happened?
Yes—this is expected.
-
Open the meeting from Meetings.
-
Update the Purpose dropdown to the correct value.
-
Use this to correct mis-tags so filters and reporting stay accurate.
Why can’t I set an Outcome for an upcoming meeting?
That’s normal in most workflows.
-
Outcomes are typically applied to past meetings.
-
Set the Purpose before the meeting to capture intent.
-
After the meeting ends, return to the meeting details and apply the Outcome.
I added a new Purpose/Outcome—who can see it?
Usually, new values are shared across the workspace.
-
After you click + Add New Purpose or + Add New Outcome, the new option should appear in the dropdown for future selection.
-
If you don’t see it afterward, refresh the page and reopen the meeting.
If visibility seems inconsistent, check with your admin or support.
What’s next
To drive adoption:
-
Align your team on a small, shared set of Purposes and Outcomes to reduce inconsistency.
-
Review meetings filtered by Purpose/Outcome regularly to spot missing or uneven tagging.
Recap
Manual updates give you full control over meeting categorization, even without AI or automations. Once Purposes and Outcomes are applied consistently, it’s easier to find the right meetings and trust downstream reporting.
